Microsoft was founded in 1975 and is headquartered in Redmond, Washington. It built its business on the Windows operating system and the Office productivity suite, and has since become one of the largest cloud providers through Azure.

Its consumer and developer footprint is unusually wide: Windows, Microsoft 365, Xbox, LinkedIn, GitHub and Visual Studio are all its. Its AI products are branded Copilot and run across Windows, Office and GitHub.

For a technology desk it is a permanent fixture - enterprise software, cloud capacity, gaming, developer tooling and its investment in and partnership with OpenAI.
